A Framework for Distributed Application Allocation in Wireless Sensor Networks

چکیده

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), an efficient allocation of application modules on sensors can reduce application’s execution time, thereby saving energy and extending WSN lifetime. This poster presents a general framework for optimal module allocation in heterogeneous WSNs. The framework relies on an analytical model for the execution time of applications and considers stochastic processing times for the modules, stochastic communication delays and an arbitrary allocation policy. The model is employed to optimally allocate modules on sensors with two goals: minimizing application’s average execution time and maximizing quality of service guarantees in executing applications.
